A march in Washington DC for people who fear the government will take away their second amendment rights has been scheduled for April 19th.
The day was chosen to mark the first shots of the Revolutionary War.
HOWEVER, it is also the day Timothy McVeigh blew up the Oklahoma City Federal building, which is considered an act of domestic terrorism in the name of government hatred.
Are organizers and supporters that insensitive to history and the implication of murder in the name of anti-government extremism? Is this the kind of connection they want to make in light of the Michigan militia?
Mo. I’m not trying to stir the pot, I’m really curious as to why they would ignore the recent history of that day. You could at least TRY to answer.

Sadly very few Americans could tell you who McVeigh was or would even care about him or the second am. march. Those who do know already have a strong, firm opinion.

As misguided as Timothy McVeigh was, he was striking back at the government which murdered a whole bunch of people at the Waco, TX home of the Branch Davidians, who like the Michigan group have harmed no one. That was also the same government that murdered the family members at Ruby Ridge, Idaho. And later lost in court for their high handed attack upon individual freedom.
It has been proven that fewer guns equal more crime and more guns equals less crime. Why would government want more crime? Jobs for Police officers?

Just because McVeigh did his stupid thing on April 19th, that should not mark anything that happens on April 19th with him. The first shots of the Revolutionary War on April 19th deserve a a more notable place in history than McVeigh.
There are 365 days in a year and over 4000 years of recorded human history…….which day is not associated with some attrocity???? You’ll be saying ‘oh my, they picked Stalin’s birthday or Hitler’s sister’s anniversary….. Give it a rest.

And it’s quite likely that they “ignored” it because it never even occurred to them. Had I not been told, I wouldn’t have even realized that April 19th was the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing and Waco.
