Why am I, according to many Christians, judged differently than famous people?

I go to Hell if I don’t believe in God. It seems to be that simple. Many times have I wondered if my deeds matter, if it matters how good a person I am. But I’m always told not even to wonder about that: If I don’t believe in God, it’s Hell for me.

Ok, I get that.

However, when somebody asks if Ghandi is in Hell or all those jewish people that died during the Holocaust, or if Warren Buffet will end up in Hell, then I always see many, many Christians answer that “they don’t know, because God is a fair judge”.

When somebody asks if Hitler can end up in Heaven if hemight have repented his sins, or Timothy McVeigh, or any other really bad example of human kind, then I always read those same answers “No idea, God is a fair judge”.

So, either the Christian “warning” about me ending up in Hell is not entirely fair, or I’m judged by different standards than famous people are. Which is it?

  1. It would be nice if they took the “God is a fair judge” stance for everyone.

  2. trolling_for_fundies

    Because they’re childlike.

  3. dude, you are not only asking Christan’s to THINK but to think outside their brainwashing…

  4. If you do not believe then why would you care what we think?

If you decide to believe I will gladly answer your questions all day long.

  5. I am not famous and I don’t believe in God. I am pretty much hosed. I am famous to my dog. (Does that help?)

  6. Have you wondered why Christians always say “God is a fair judge”? It’s because He is, and the Bible says so. Do you know why Christians say you must believe in God? Its because you do, and the Bible says so. God gives to people what they deserve. Yes, you will be judged by every action and every word that escapes your mouth, but you also must believe that Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross for our sins. The Bible says so. And if you think the Bible is “just an old book”, that’s your loss.

  7. Only God knows who is in Hell. I am wondering if for some reason you are concerned that you are going to Hell.
Only God is going to judge you, none of us Christians are going to judge you.

  8. God is a just god. Each will appear at the judgment seat. I plan on taking an attorney. His name is Jesus. Who’s going with you?

  9. That whole idea is the product of Western religon-mongering. I believe God is a fair judge for anyone even if they don’t believe Jesus was the Savior.

Why would God judge you on how your parents brought you up???!!!

  10. why are u listening to pple that u already know are hypocrits? if you listen to them it will drive you crazy. and why do you care what they think anyway? if you are secure in yourself, that is.

  11. I believe that Heaven is for those that love God and want to spend eternity with Him, whether they are famous or not.

  12. Well hon, if you tell us what is in your heart, and you say that you don’t believe in God at all, then aren’t you basically telling us what God will see in you? And yes, God is a fair judge for you as well.

We say that about those people because we don’t know what was in their hearts when they died.

  13. In the King James Version of the Bible, in Romans 14:11, it says, “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me and every tongue shall confess to God.”

That just means that everyone will believe in God, they would be insane not to. When we get to the other side, the discussion will be over.

Hell is not where non-believers go. Hell is a state of mind caused by people repeatedly doing what they know to be wrong because they LIKE doing what they know to be wrong.

Also, in Romans 14:10 “But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” (spelling & punctuation original)

Those Christians who tell others that they are going to hell for not believing in Jesus Christ, have been deceived into believing a false doctrine. People will be in hell for what they have done, not whether they know the Lord.

  14. We don’t know how He does it. It’s ignorant to pretend that any of us knows how.

  15. What you should understand is that Christians are people just like you and many of them idolize celebrities and don’t even know they’re doing it.

You ARE NOT a bad person and you ARE NOT going to hell. Point blank. It’s not up to a human being to say such things.

Sweetheart, you do right by people, be yourself, and live life. I’m sure you have a ways to go before you die. Don’t let someone else determine your destiny. Claim it, believe it, and guard it.

  16. Do you recall that when Jesus was being crucified, there were also two others being crucified, one on His left and one on His right side. One of the thieves and murderers said to Jesus “If you are the Christ, come down of that cross and save yourself and save us.” The other sinner lashed out at him saying “We deserve what we are getting, but He (Jesus) is innocent and has done nothing wrong”….Jesus said to this man…”Amen I say to you…today you will be with me in paradise”. Does this speak to you of God’s infinite mercy? Who are we to know the mind of God?

  17. Tilt Of My High Flyer

Thanks for taking care of those guys!
But if the Bible is right we started out with the sin of Adam.
And that your saved by God’s Grace not by your works,
    through faith in Christ.

  18. Well there is no difference as long as you have recieved Christ then you are saved anyone who does not there is nothing else but hell. the Bible says you are saved by grace not your good deeds.

  19. God is no respecter of persons.
He loves YOU as much as anyone else.

What they mean is that they don’t know.

    God is God.

And as much as we LOVE HIM….
    HE IS GOD !!!

HE will make His own decisions.

    HE KNOWS THE HEART !!!!!

  20. You will be judged according to your own deeds and thoughts, just like everybody else, no difference if famous or not- in front of God there is no “celebrity/star/VIP”, we are all the same. When people tell you they don’t know , it means it is not for them to judge the others.

  21. As regards to judgment read this to enlighten your conscience..
Jas 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
Jas 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

  22. You,Ghandi,Hilter and I will all be judged by the same God and by the same standards. Those of us 4 men who have accepted Jesus Christ, the son of God, as Lord and Savior, will be welcomed into heaven. Markyyy,it is not too late for two of the four to make the right decision. I can not judge for absolute sure the eternal fate of Ghandi or Hitler, but without Jesus, neither will be with God.

  23. All right Markyyy, I’ll take a shot at this, I have told you before that I have my own understanding of “God” and “He” does not include a ” Do what I tell you or your F#%ked” relationship with people who believe. So, what your dealing with primarily is the narrow minded rhetoric of certain religious beliefs. (i.e. Christians etal.) So, rest easy my atheist friend, whether you believe or choose not to believe in a “God” is not going to send you to hell. Just try to be the best you can everyday. That’s all any of us have the right to ask of you.

    Later bro.

  24. It is not about the fame. I believe that all good people do not go to heaven, but all forgiven people go to heaven. You need to know the One who forgives. And you need to want to go to heaven. And when you do, you also want to do good, so that more people could go to the Father’s house.

Timothy McVeigh had the advantage that he knew when he was going to die. But all the people he killed did not have the same opportunity. I trust than God knows our hearts. And if Timothy is going to be in heaven, he will not have any desire to do wrong anymore. That is between God and him.

  25. You know, you could solve this problem by becoming famous. All you gotta do is blow up a building. Then you and McVeigh would be judged by the same standards.

Uh-oh. Did I post that out loud?

  26. It is not about whether you are a good or bad person. God created you so he would have someone to love. It is your choice to walk that path with him or go another way.

  27. I’d like to tackle the Hitler question first. Obviously Hitler was not a christian, otherwise he would not have done the things he did. I find it highly unlikely that in his last moments that he would have suddenly “found Christ” down in his bunker. Indeed, he was caught and he took the “easy way out” as some would call it, and killed himself.
The same things as Timothy McVeigh, or Ted Bundy, these people are likely to not have repented and come to Christ because they believed that they’d done nothing wrong. They believe whole heartedly in what they were doing, and that what they were doing was right. And to be repentant is to be sorry for what you have done.

As for Ghandi, he devoted his life for humanitarian reasons. Gandhi’s life and teachings inspired Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Biko and Aung San Suu Kyi and through them the American civil rights movement and the freedom struggles. He was self self-sufficient in its needs, making his own clothes, renouncing worldly posessions, to me he lived his life like a model christian should.

When Jesus was on earth did he not teach us to be humanitarians? help others, and give up worldly pocessions?
He spent time with the blind, the sick, the “whores” the worst of the worst and helped them.

The bible says that you should look at your own life before you start to judge others, so my advice to you and the others who are pointing people to hell is to get active as a christian, and live your life according to Jesus’s teachings go out among your community and help the homeless, volunteer at an adult reading program, visit the sick at hospitals, put down your Wii, and let people know that you care.

For myself, I am in the works or starting a not for profit organization to fight homelessness – teaching the home less how to read, and helping them get jobs and back on their feet, or on medication if that is what they need. So just worry about your own life, and believe and act what Christs has taught us.
