Actually there have been several terrorist attacks comitted in the US prior to 9/11.
The Unibomber conducted a sporadic bombing campaign for over 20 years.
Pureto Rican sepratists bombed Congress and the Pentagon in the 1970s.
Eco-terrorists have been active since the 1970′s (and remain active even today).
The first (and only) incident of bioterrorism occurred in Oregon in the early 1980′s.
McVeigh was merely the US domestic terrorist who achieved the highest body count.
