My Grandfather’s girlfriend told me over the phone once that someone in the news (who shall remain an unnamed radio pundit) said that they’d have to start reporting their guns when filing Income Tax.
this is patently false, and whats more, from Registration Laws, the goverment already knows what guns you have.

When a gun toting perp tries a home invasion in my house, my Glock 40 with the 15 round magazine will even the odds. When the police finally come, they will put a toe tag on a dead perp.
When they break into your house, after they rape you, they will then kill you. When the police finally come, they will put a toe tag on you and then start the efforrts to find the perp.
Is that simple enough?
BTW, Timothy McVeigh did most of his killing using fertilizer, not guns. So if you want to ban anything, ban fertilizer. Isn’t that the way liberals think?

Of course, it is possible but unlikely (emergency situations not withstanding like during Katrina) that the government will force people to give up their guns.
But metaphorically, the government can take away access to the guns we own by mandating how we can keep and bear arms, and prevent us from acquiring firearms in certain configurations (like with the Assault Weapons Ban).
Obama did campaign on the promise of reauthorizing the AWB. You can’t blame people for believing him.

I am hung up with owning firearms for the safety of my family and I. The hobby and sport of competitive shooting. And just because McViegh owned guns does not make all gun owners bad…
