Is it just a coincidence that Timothy McVeigh was brought a Roman Catholic and hated liberals?

and quoted Patrick Henry’s “Give me liberty or give me death” on his answering machine?
So why bring up Islam when a person commits mass murder? Even a patriot or an RC can become a terrorist. By the way, I was brought up an RC.
Have people forgotten the Provisional IRA, the Red Brigade, the Tamil Tigers, etc? None are Muslims. Face it most anti-Muslims are selective with their history.
Proud Texan blamed all religion for terrorism. He’s wrong too, the Tamil Tigers were a secular group.
Yes, I am quite aware that Tim’s motives were political. But Americans have not gunned after all people who shared the same views. It’s a double standard.

One answer is that Islamic extremists have publicly declared a jihad on infidels. No other religious group has done that. imo. -In the present day-

  2. Timothy McVeigh converted to Islam before his death penalty. So that explains everything about him. Next!

  3. Kaito the anti-anti-intellectual

Because the Republicans like to overlook things that make their points less valid.

    @First Answer: Crusades.

  4. Conservative Lunacy

McVeigh was a registred angry GOP….. google it.

he hated GOvernment.. like most GOPS do.

  5. Townshend is God (a liberal)

McVeigh has a interesting way to show that he’s a patriot.

  6. McVeigh was the picture of the right wing male ideal. Secretly the tea partyers worship at his grave, as the beging the vast right wing conspiracy to overthrow our government. These crazed lunatics need to be stopped by any means necessary.

  7. Cons are QUICK to forget ALL the “American terrorists”:

    - The Centennial Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta in 1996, by AMERICAN Eric Robert Rudolph, a former US ARMY explosives expert .

    - Bruce Ivins, the AMERICAN who delivered letters with anthrax spores in 2001 (while Bush was President).

    - Ted Bundy was the AMERICAN serial killer, who killed 30 people between 1973 and 1978.

    - Theodore “Ted” Kaczynski, the AMERICAN Unabomber, who sent mailbombs from 1978 to 1995.

    - Timothy McVeigh was the AMERICAN who bombed the Oklahoma City Federal Building in 1995, killing 168, and injuring 680 !

    – Columbine shootings, Viriginia Tech shootings, the Pennsylvania Amish school shootings, etc., etc., etc., all by (WHITE, “Christian”) AMERICANs …

    .
(for those [Cons] who aren’t aware, those all happened BEFORE Obama was elected :-)

  8. The problem is not what religion, the problem is religion. God is the root of all terrorism. When we eliminate God we will eliminate terrorism.

Hello??? Did you not hear about “the Troubles” in Ireland that raged on for decades before finally being settled by something like a truce? Men have never needed much of a reason to go to war against each other, but religion and politics sure as hell have made it easier to justify.

  10. If you want to bring up McVeigh as a terrorist, go ahead. If that makes everybody feel better when calling Hasan an Islamic terrorist, So be it. That’s what he is.

  11. Come on now. We aren’t currently at war with fundamentalist Christian extremism. Except for one abortion Dr assassin, they have been quiet lately.

  12. Ah – sweet TImmy was a catholic?? It figures. There’s some mighty strange catholics.

  13. 1. People like to target groups that are different and Islam is different.
    2. Some people want to make Obama look weak on National Defense and wan to define it as Islamic Terrorism instead of a loan act of an insane man.

  14. McVeigh’s vengeance (for Waco) was not related to religion at all. That’s another ridiculous neo-Marxist straw man. The “liberals” you cite aren’t (see below). They are socialists. Also, the terrorists cause is a Muslim one. They don’t just happen to be Muslims and terrorists.

Regardless of all that, I don’t blame Islam for what fanatics do in it’s name. I do blame other Muslims for not condemning their actions loudly and clearly enough. I think they are cowering because some of the Muslim clerics involved in the carnage have a lot of influence in the Muslim community. Muslims should know these people bring shame upon themselves, shame upon you, and shame upon Allah. He gives no support for them. You should not either.

I see the current Muslim lunacy equivalent to the Roman Catholic inquisition centuries ago. I see it as exactly the same kind of insane jealousy and drive for power as other philosophies threaten the hold of their religious order. I hope history does equate those two monstrous fanatical movements because they are equal.

True liberalism advocates: individual freedom, weak government, and free markets. Conservatism advocates: moral responsibility, strong government, and protected markets. Socialism advocates: social responsibility, omnipotent government, and controlled markets.

  15. §§pecial Unicorn™

Timothy McVeigh was an anarchist. And well, as for the jihadist that killed our military members in our own country–screaming allegiance to Allah before massacring our soldiers and his OPEN statements and actions avowing this ideology is what makes him what he is. Sometimes, all you have to do is look at what is in front of your face. Are you missing what even the liberal media cannot ignore? Your problem. The rest of us are not going to coddle terrorists to make a few people feel more comfortable. Radical Islam is NOT welcome here, so close your arms for goodness sake.

*edna–have you considered anger management classes? they teach that everyone else is not responsible for everything that went wrong in your life. Refer to my source below. And call someone who cares….

  16. Susan....Go Pokes!!!

    Proud Texan is correct.

    Another Texan.

  17. McVeigh was insane yes. The fact that he was Catholic was coincidental.

  18. If his catholicism was a driving force behind the terror attack, I would agree that it would be right to call him a Catholic-terrorist. If not, then calling him a Catholic-terrorist would be just as irrelivent as calling Hasan a brown-eyed-terrorist.

But there is plenty evidence to suggest Islam was at least one of the, if not THE driving force behind the shooting.

  19. You’re not the only one that exemplifies the parable “that you can lead a jackass to water but you can’t make him drink it”

What don’t you guys understand about yelling ALLA-HU AKBAR and killing soldiers that’s so mysterious to you all?

If he had yelled Mickey Mouse Akbar(!!) I could understand your confusion.

But your sickening adherence to Political Correctness is just that: Sickening.

  20. Hate to call you on this, but McVeigh was an agnostic who did nothing in the name of God.

Quit trying to cover up for terrorists.

  21. Stay in school. Someday you might be able to communicate. I hope your not a classic example of a Catholic education.

  22. Yes, but Timothy McVeigh didn’t specifically cite his faith as the reason for his attack. The Muslims who have attacked and killed many, do so “in the name of their faith.”

  23. is it just a coincidence, or did hasan know it was guy fawks day

  24. Timothy McVeigh considered himself Agnostic. The fort hood guy was muslim and he killed those people becasue he believed it was the muslim thing to do. And I read that witnesses said they heard the Fort Hood guy scream “allahu akbar”
