I saw someone imply that because a man served his country, he automatically loved it, and that all his behavior proving the opposite did not matter
Your thoughts? Do all soldiers and veterans automatically get a free pass in regards to loving ones country?
Before you answer, remember, Timothy McVeigh served, won a Bronze Star too.

I’m sure most do, but that doesn’t mean they like the direction of it or the f__cktards in the govt.
No, it doesn’t automatically mean that……….but it is certainly good evidence of it.
because serving in the military is no fun experience….and I would imagine you would have to be dedicated & patriotic if you would take the initiative to serve.
It is possible that military troops had other reasons and motives to serve…….
college scholarships, benefits, etc.
but if you need money, you can find a domestic job here at home, without risking your life in war.
So that suggests that anyone who serves must be doing it for reasons beyond money and benefits.
Military soldiers don’t get paid that much.
Although they do get free room & board.
but still…..that can’t be enough to persuade a non-patriot to die in war.
Some serve to gain citizenship. I know a frenchman that did a long time ago.
No, but I am sure they would appreciate some respect for their service.
McVeigh was anti government, he didn’t necessarily hate his country.
No it doesn’t. Many young adults join now for the promised training and benefits. When their time comes to do their job and deploy they avoid it. They find excuses to not go, pursue waivers, or simply refuse. I see it as another symptom of the entitlement generation.
Those types don’t give a rat’s *ss about their country or their community or anything other than themselves.
I was in the military. Not everyone joins out of being a patriot.
Some join because that is the only option they have out of poverty.
So, it is wrong they assume it is just for one reason people join. The reasons are huge in variety.
