I am new to NASCAR. Are the festivities in the infield at Texas Motor Speedway worth the cost of admission?

We are going to our first race in November for the Dickies 500. I heard that the tailgating at TMS is a great time. Can someone fill me in on what to expect?

    Never been to Texas. Never been to the infield. I go to Charlotte, and camp for half the week. I will say that the camaraderie of fellow fans at races is great, and in my opinion, the best part of actually going to a race. You can usually follow the race better at home, but the atmosphere at the track is amazing!

    Ive been camping at TMS since 2001 and it is a great time. I stay outside the track, but have been to the infield once and it’s a pretty good time there, although there is a curfew inside the track, that’s why I prefer the outside. If your getting there on race day, get there way early to beat traffic, and stay a while after the race for the traffic to clear because it’s a mess!! Other than that, bring your team colors and get ready for a great race.

    Congratulations. I hear Texas is a great place to watch a race. You can expect a little bit of rowdy drunken redneck fans (not an insult) and some very nice people. There are a lot of activities in the infield. You should bring a lot of games and stuff, and then walk around and ask to join some other fan’s games. Of course you’ve got to go the NASCAR RaceDay stage as well!

    The infield in Texas is not worth the money. I would stay at the campgrounds around turn 3. Texas infield is expensive. If you wanna have fun infield go to DEGA. Where the party is all night and it’s cheap to stay.

    woth every penny but if you are active duty for the US MIlitary go to the Coke 600 at LMS in NC great racing 100 extra miles oh and military gets in the infield and garage free when wearing their uniform cuz its memorial day weekend
