Hekla is in Iceland..that is on a divergent area. Erta Ale in Ethiopia, and Ol Doinyo Lengai in Kenya are also near an area that is diverging (The Great Rift)
Mauna Loa is on a hotspot
The others are part of volcanic arcs and in areas where subduction occurs. Even if the actual subduction is off shore and several hundreds of miles away it still feeds magma chambers and drags in bits of water that turn to steam. That makes 99% of these volcanoes violent.
